How the CHC can help with an NHS complaint
The Community Health Council is here to help you.
Part of the CHCs job is to make sure patients get a fair deal from the NHS. This includes Hospitals, Community Health Services, GPs, Dentists, Opticians and Pharmacists. Most people are very satisfied with the service they receive, but sometimes they are unhappy and may want to comment or even complain. The CHC can help you through the complaints procedure.
The CHC are unable to investigate complaints, but if you wish can:
- Explain the complaints procedures to you
- Help you make sure that your complaint is put to the appropriate authority and investigated properly
- Help you write letters or draft them for your approval
- Accompany you to any meetings for the investigation of your complaint
- Put you in touch with people who can help
These services are Independent, Free and Confidential.
Contact our Advocate for further information. We aim to try to resolve issues quickly without recourse to the formal complaint system, however, if necessary we will use the NHS Complaints Process. Should people wish to go to litigation we can advise them of approved solicitors with the Law Society but we can not help them with the pursuit of their case.
